As an Aquarius sun, I’ve learned that a huge part of my purpose in this lifetime is to embody the role of The Visionary. If you’re an entrepreneur, activist, creator, mother, or leader of any other kind, this is your role, too.
In the wise words of Lip Gallagher from Shameless, “Great things don’t happen in tiny little increments. They happen when someone thinks completely differently.”

So, how exactly do you craft, and carry out, a vision that works? Let’s discuss.
Let The Vision Reveal Itself to You
Much of the process of living a visionary life is about being open and receptive to visions as they’re revealed to you. By developing your intuition, you’ll be able to recognize A Visionary Idea when you see one.
Maybe you’re a coach and you receive a vision for your next group program, that will revolutionize the way people relate to their bodies and self-concept.
Maybe you’re planning an event and you can feel the experience you’re creating start to unfold in your mind.
Whatever it is, step one is to be a clear, open channel—ready to receive your next visionary assignment from the Universe.
Get Curious and Stay Open
Sometimes we receive intuitive information about a project or idea, and just the thought of carrying it out feels intimidating. “Who am I to write a book about this topic?” “Who do I think I am, believing I can climb this mountain and lead this cause?”
If you want to live a visionary life, you have to be willing to do it, scared or not. Sometimes the vision you’re given—the one you’re being called to steward and walk out—feels like the last thing you would ever choose to do yourself. But that’s the thing about living on the leading edge of your purpose: you’re meant to leave your comfort zone in exchange for The Cosmic Zone. The reward? More than worth it.
Start Somewhere: Action Creates Clarity
Leap and the net will appear. When you have a vision on your heart, your human brain will want to wait until it has allll the info before taking action. Our nervous systems want a plan, a roadmap, and to know what to expect. But one secret to crafting a vision that works is to just start.
When you work with the information you have (for example, step one is reaching out to this potential collaborator, or writing this post, or getting some necessary supplies in order), the Universe rewards you with more information!
Start somewhere, and know that clarity (and magic, opportunities, little cosmic blessings) will come when you step out in faith.
Bring Energetics Into The Fold
Get curious about what energy your vision contains. If you’re creating your dream wedding, your final vision is imbued with the energy of love, joy, and celebration. If you’re leading a cause or campaign, your vision may hold the frequency of justice, liberation, and peace.
Hold those energies and return to them as often as you can. This will also help you define the energy you want to embody throughout the process of crafting your vision. You don’t just want the wedding itself to be beautiful and romantic, you want the process of ideating, planning, and preparing to feel that way, too.
When you can return back to the core intention of your vision, it stays energetically pure. This is where the magic happens.
Look for the Helpers
Visionary energy isn’t just about the “I,” it’s about the sacred “we.” Your vision is not just for you, even if you are the one leading the charge to bring it to life. Remember why you’re here to walk this vision out in the first place, and the people who need this vision most. Keep them at the heart of your actions, always.
When you do this, you’ll naturally call in the helpers, co-conspirators, and teachers who will happily assist you in walking out your vision however they can.
Return to the Vision & Keep it Alive
Finally, remember that the vision itself is just the starting place. The real magic happens when you start taking action, trusting your intuition, getting your people involved, and prioritizing your joy and inspiration. This will help you center both service and pleasure throughout the process.
Crafting a vision that works means balancing the bigger picture with the finer details. Know when to zoom out, and when to zero in on the small stuff. Find people who remind you of your vision when you forget. And know that we need your vision, just like you need it!
