3 Things to Look for in your HD Chart to Help You Run Your Business More Intuitively

Why Human Design?
Similarly to astrology, Human Design is a tool that can help you understand your natural strengths, decision-making style, energetic signature, and true nature. It helps you see how your energy is meant to move through the world — how you attract opportunities, make decisions, and show up in your creative flow.
As an intuitive business strategist and spiritual coach, Human Design often comes up when clients are craving more alignment. Maybe they’re “doing all the right things” but aren’t seeing the results they know are possible. Sometimes they’re simply craving more magic, flow, and synchronicity, like their current path feels a little too “effort-y.”

Integrating the parts of your HD chart that resonate most with you can help things *click* into place.
You can pull your Human Design chart using any free chart tool (I recommend My Human Design and myBodyGraph). You’ll need your date, time, and location of birth!
Here are 3 things to look for in your Human Design chart to help you run your business with more ease, flow, and alignment:
1. Your Energy Type & Strategy
There are five different energy types in Human Design. Your Human Design Type tells you about your role in the world and how your energy naturally works and operates. It’s similar to your astro rising sign that way! Your Type also shapes how your aura functions.
Your HD Type determines your Strategy, which is your path of least resistance for moving throughout life and magnetizing the right opportunities, people, and experiences to you. 🧲 Strategy is the first (and arguably most foundational) tool for alignment in your chart.
Understanding and integrating your Human Design Strategy can not only help you accept your natural way of approaching life and business, but is also a life-changing tool for embracing your energy as your guide. You learn to love yourself for being the way that you are, and gain tools and knowledge for being who you were designed to be on purpose and with confidence.

2. Your Signature & Not-Self Theme
Each of the five Human Design types also has its own energetic Signature, AKA the internal barometer that indicates when you are operating within alignment. Your Signature is how alignment feels in your body and business. It’s like the green light that lights up and buzzes to show you that you’re onto something and working your Human Design Strategy in a way that’s authentic to you!
On the flip side of this, each type also has something called a Not-Self Theme. Think of this as your yellow or red traffic light, helping to make you aware of where you may need some adjusting or re-working in order to feel more flow and less resistance.
As a coach, I have lots of practice “clocking” my clients’ energetic states. So when they’re feeling lit up and satisfied (the Signature of a Generator and Manifesting Generator), I know they’re doing something right! I’ll encourage them to get curious about what in their life and business is working and contributing to these aligned, feel-good feelings.
On the other hand, when feelings of frustration, resentment, or bitterness arise, we know it’s time to make some changes to shift the energy, pick a new plan of action, or dig into some mindset work to get them feeling better and more empowered.

3. Your Authority
Your authority in Human Design speaks to your decision-making style and cadence. It’s how you get out of your head and into your body when making decisions in business and life.
Understanding your authority can help you develop your intuition, trust yourself more, and make decisions in a way that feels grounded and sustainable.
For example, I have an emotional authority which means I’m designed to ride my emotional wave and wait for neutrality before making a decision. There have been many times when I’ve gotten too excited and moved too quickly on a potential client project or proposal because I didn’t wait to let my emotional high settle before taking action!
Embracing my emotional authority has probably been the most impactful part of my personal Human Design journey.
Here are some of the most common Human Design Authorities:
- Emotional Authority: Clarity comes over time. Ride the emotional wave and wait to feel neutral before making big decisions. Great for sleeping on offers, tuning into your emotional truth, and not being rushed.
- Sacral Authority: Instant gut response — a clear yes or no in the body. If it’s not a full-body yes, it’s a no (or not right now). Amazing for making fast, aligned calls about collaborations, content ideas, or client fits.
- Splenic Authority: Quiet, intuitive knowing in the moment (often a whisper or subtle hit). This type needs to learn to trust the first instinct. Ideal for spontaneous pivots, subtle red flags, and intuitive guidance in client work.
- Self-Projected Authority: Clarity through speaking. You process decisions by talking them out. Helpful in branding, marketing, and coaching where your voice and self-expression lead the way.
Breaking it All Down
Below are the five energy Types, their Strategies, and other info that may help you integrate your own chart to help you in business!
Type: Manifestor
- Strategy: To inform. You’re designed to initiate, not ask for permission—but giving others a heads-up helps reduce resistance and create smoother collaboration.
- Signature (aligned): Peace
- Not-Self (misaligned): Anger
- Aura: Closed and repelling (not in a bad way — just independent!)
- In Business: You’re here to start movements and carve new paths. Honor your need for autonomy and alone time. Informing is a tool, not a cage.
Type: Generator
- Strategy: Wait to respond. Notice what lights you up in your environment (conversations, content you engage with, that question your client asked you) and practice responding from your gut as opposed to your mind.
- Signature (aligned): Satisfaction
- Not-Self (misaligned): Frustration
- Aura: Open and enveloping
- In Business: You’re a builder with sustainable energy, but only when you’re doing what genuinely excites you and brings you joy. You aren’t meant to initiate from your head, but rather wait for what feels like an “mmhmmm” or “uh-huh,” rather than an “uh-uh” or no.
Type: Manifesting Generator
- Strategy: Wait to respond (and then inform). Your gut leads the way, and informing smooths the path as you move quickly or pivot.
- Signature (aligned): Satisfaction (which will also bring you peace)
- Not-Self (misaligned): Frustration (can also show up as anger)
- Aura: Open and fast-moving
- In Business: You’re multi-passionate and fast-moving. You love having your hands in many different projects or focuses at once. Give yourself permission to pivot and skip steps. Your path is not meant to be linear!
Type: Projector
- Strategy: Wait for the invitation. Your energy is focused and penetrating, designed to guide and see things clearly. The key here is that you thrive on recognition, and your clear vision is best used when you’re invited to share your sage wisdom or perspective.
- Signature (aligned): Success
- Not-Self (misaligned): Bitterness
- Aura: Focused and penetrating
- In Business: Your role is to guide, see systems clearly for what they are, and offer deep insight. It’s important to protect your energy in business especially. Wait for the aligned clients, offers, and projects to invite you in, and be generous with your wisdom once you’re in the right room.
Type: Reflector
- Strategy: Wait a lunar cycle (about 28 days) before major decisions. You’re designed to reflect the energy of your environment, which means your space and people matter deeply.
- Signature (aligned): Surprise
- Not-Self (misaligned): Disappointment
- Aura: Sampling and reflective
- In Business: Surround yourself with the right collaborators, environments, and rhythms. You’re a powerful mirror for collective energy — and your timing is naturally divine. And you’re a rare gem! Only about 1% of the population are Reflectors.
